Gulliver Prep’s Interact Club is in the midst of planning for their annual fashion show for charity on March 10 at their Prep Campus. This annual student production by Gulliver’s Interact Club will benefit three great charities: Easter Seals, Chapman Partnership and Give Kids the World Village. Club members make monthly visits to Easter Seals Alzheimer day care center playing bingo and sharing stories as well as monthly visits to the Chapman Center downtown making meals to feed 500 and playing games with children. This year’s Interact Vice President and Fashion Show Chair is Alissa Seleznov. Alissa has invited a few members of their sponsor club, Coral Gables Rotary, and some faculty to model clothes from their high school era to add to the hilarity of this always fun night of laughter and fashion.

Pinecrest resident attorney Greg Martini, President of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, was overwhelmed with the support for his club’s Inaugural Coral Gables Rotary Chili Cook-Off. Greg’s vision of creating a signature event that included some great family fun, was a success from the start which is good news for the many programs supported by the event’s beneficiary, The Rotary Club of Coral Gables Foundation. Among the major donors stepping up to support this effort were Mercedes Benz of Coral Gables, Coral Gables Hospital, Concrete Beach Brewery, The Slesnick Family Foundation, CRB Geological and Environmental Services and Miami’s Community Newspapers.

In other outdoor fun, On March 6th, “Beethoven in the Banyan” featured internationally-acclaimed Russian cellist Ian Maksin. The concert was generously underwritten by Drs. Karelia and Marino Carbonell in celebration of two special birthdays on March 7th. This was one of Orchestra Miami’s annual Beethoven concerts series. The crowd enjoyed soloist Ian Maksin’s performing Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, followed by Beethoven’s lively Symphony N. 8 in F Major, Op. 93. Maksin has collaborated with artists of many different genres including Andrea Bocelli, P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg and Gloria Estefan and has even opened for such artists as Sting and his guitarist Dominic Miller.

Finally, the Autoverks Classic Car Show is back this month on Saturday, March 19, 6 -10 p.m. Admission is free. Enjoy live band, food for purchase and a chance to see some incredible cars. Kids will enjoy meeting some firemen, checking out a real Fire Engine and having a chance to use the water hose to knock down stantions for fun.
