MKC has a sculpted body with a high beltline and low shoulders that give it a strong athletic look.

I like Lincoln’s new MKC. It’s a small premium crossover utility vehicle that is just the right size for a family of four. It handles like a mid-size luxury sedan and, with the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine, it has all the power you need for highway driving and gets exceptionally good gas mileage.

The MKC looks good, too. It has a sleek, sculpted body with a high beltline and low shoulders that give it a strong athletic look. Soft exterior lighting, pedestal side-view mirrors and an available all-glass panoramic Vista Roof add to the luxury.

Interior

The luxury and design carry through to the interior where craftsmanship and high-tech combine for a warm, comfortable environment. The unique instrument panel houses a push-button gear changer and plush leather with French stitching — including available Bridge of Weir leather and real wood trim — to accentuate the elegance.

There even is a new steering wheel on the MKC that will be available on all future Lincoln vehicles. It’s a leather-wrapped wheel that gives better feeling and control while driving. The enhanced THX II Certified Audio System with 14 right-, centerand left-slot speaker assemblies is available. The state-of-the-art audio system delivers a rich, immersive surround sound that reproduces music as it was mixed in the studio.
SYNC with MyLincoln Touch lets you personalize your MKC by using voice-activated commands or touch controls on the eight-inch display screen. Knobs and buttons on the center console allow easy access to control the air conditioning and sound system.

Under the hood

The MKC comes standard with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 240 hp at 5,500 rpm and 270 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. With the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, the power bumps up to 285 hp at 5,500 rpm and 305 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. A nice new wrinkle is the Active Grille Shutters that open and close and help improve fuel efficiency at highway speeds.

MKC comes standard with front-wheel drive and 18-inch wheels. You can upgrade to Lincoln’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and 19- inch wheels for better cornering and handling and a sportier look. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system includes Continuously Controlled Damping, which constantly monitors the road, with the suspension reacting in 20 milliseconds to adjust and deliver a smooth ride and better handling. CCD also is available in the standard front-wheel drive configuration of MKC. The Lincoln Drive Control feature lets you select from sport, comfort and normal drive modes, depending on your driving mood.

Pricing

The MSRP on the 2015 Lincoln MKC is $33,995.
