Marking the occasion of the 97th birthday of the American Legion, Post 98 in Coral Gables began its celebration on Saturday, Apr. 16, by presenting its 2016 Firefighter of the Year Award to Lt. Christian Garcia of the Coral Gables Fire Department. The award was in recognition of his leadership role in finding locations for and organizing practice drills in buildings scheduled for demolition to enhance performance and increase safety. Lt. Garcia also was praised for his efforts in other areas of the Fire Department’s work. Pictured as the plaque was presented are (l-r) Post 98 Commander Art Angelica, Lt.
