Coral Gables High senior Taylor Fay is the class co-treasurer. She has been the class co-treasurer all four years at Gables.

As a member of the Class of 2016 board, she helped plan the college tour taken by juniors and big events such as homecoming and graduation activities this school year.

Last year, Fay helped plan an expanded college tour.

“Usually it was just in Florida. Last year we decided we would do an out-of-state college tour,” she said.

They added schools such as Georgia, North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke and Davidson.

“We did two separate tours. We had two buses,” she said. “We went up to UF, UCF and FSU together. After that we broke off, the in-state bus went to New College and USF and the out-of-state bus went to Georgia and North Carolina.”

Fay’s job was to contact the schools and plan the itinerary.

“I scheduled where the bus would go, where it would pick us up and drop us off,” she said. “I would schedule the tours for the schools we didn’t have alumni in.”

She not only participated in that college tour but she also went on an SEC college tour with her family.

“I fell in love with the University of Alabama,” she said.

Although she has been accepted to UF, Mississippi and Alabama (Honors College), she has chosen to attend Alabama to study international relations with a minor in Spanish. Alabama awarded her the Presidential Scholarship.

At Gables, Fay also played volleyball and basketball. She joined the varsity basketball team as a freshman. She was captain of the JV volleyball team and moved up to the varsity team as a junior. This year she was co-captain of both the basketball and volleyball teams.

Outside of school, Fay loves to surf. In fact, her whole family surfs. She started when she was age 6 or 7.
