The Palace at Coral Gables marked its “topping out” on Mar. 16 with a traditional celebration for more than 300 construction workers involved on the project at 45 Andalusia Ave. Coastal Construction Company, the general contractor, is ahead of schedule on the ninestory luxury residential community and 535- space parking garage.
“Topping out celebrations were typical occurrences for several years but they have become less common,” said Steve Silverman, vice president of Coastal Construction. “The Palace at Coral Gables’ topping out was a tribute to all involved in the project and is significant as a new construction project marks the Coral Gables skyline.”
In keeping with the Scandinavian custom to celebrate when a building reaches its intended height, a palm tree replaced the traditional evergreen atop the roof structure.
Last fall, Coastal began work on the residential tower that will include 243 luxury residences, extensive public areas and amenities, and a new parking garage for residents, staff and public use.
“We are so pleased with the building’s progress. This is a point when the many workers can be recognized for their efforts and are appreciated as the building is moving forward,” said Jacob Shaham, CEO of The Palace Group, the new community’s owner and operator. “In seven months, so much has been accomplished and we thank everyone involved.”
Palace president Helen Shaham joined her husband in extending thanks to the construction team.
With a Leasing Center located at 16 Miracle Mile, The Palace at Coral Gables will be a Mediterranean palazzo-styled residential building inspired by the worldrenowned Four Seasons George V Hotel in Paris. The community will offer residents extensive services and amenities geared to a luxurious senior lifestyle.
