Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre recently announced that Selma Sotolongo has joined the company as audience development manager.

Before coming to Actors’ Playhouse, Sotolongo managed the arts, culture and nonprofit category for the Miami Herald Media Company. She was with both the media company and its former parent company, Knight Ridder, for 29 years working in various capacities. For the past two years, Sotolongo served as business development manager at Diario Las Américas, directing new business efforts and increasing brand awareness for the multimedia company in the arts and culture community.

“I have known and worked with Selma for over 15 years in her previous positions, and I am thrilled to welcome her on board as an important member of our professional team” said Barbara S. Stein, Actors’ Playhouse executive producing director.

In her new role at Actors’ Playhouse, Sotolongo will manage the sales operations for new and existing patrons and groups. Shealso will be involved in all aspects of increasing the theater’s audience attendance, growth and awareness.

Sotolongo studied journalism at the University of Tennessee and Florida International University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Political Science.

Founded by Dr. Lawrence E. Stein, and under the leadership of Barbara S. Stein and artistic director David Arisco, Actors’ Playhouse is an award-winning nonprofit regional professional theater company celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2017-18. Located in the historic Miracle Theatre on Miracle Mile in downtown Coral Gables, Actors’ Playhouse is a Florida Presenting Cultural Organization and one of 13 major cultural institutions in Miami-Dade County. The company produces five Mainstage and four professional Children’s Theatre productions annually, offers a year-round Theatre Conservatory and Summer Camp Program, educational arts outreach programs, and the Young Talent Big Dreams countywide youth talent contest in partnership with The Children’s Trust.
