Alonzo Mourning, Bank United go one-on-one with youth

Alonzo Mourning, Miami Heat legend and vice president of Player Programs, inspired young guests from I Have ADream Foundation Overtown during a special event held in honor of National Financial Literacy Month in April at BankUnited’s Coral Way branch in Coral Gables.

Mourning and the youth took turns shooting free throws after he shared his basketball knowledge along with money tips for kids.

During the event, BankUnited executives presented a donation of $3,000 to the Mourning Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Alonzo and Tracy Mourning, which provides a multitude of opportunities to enhance the lives of children and families in South Florida through education, enrichment and advocacy.

BankUnited is a sponsor of the Miami Heat, and partners with the franchise to present the Miami Heat Scholarships program, which awards five $5,000 scholarships annually to deserving South Florida high school students.
