Case of the Month: Rhinoplasty with Dr. Wolf

Dr. Wolf - photoAs the central point of a person’s face, the size and shape of the nose has a great impact on a person’s appearance. According to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), approximately half a million people seek consultation to change or enhance the appearance of their nose.

Some people are unhappy with their nose from birth, while others may not like the way its changed with age. For others, an injury may have distorted the nose and in many, there is the additional goal of improving breathing.

Rhinoplasty, which is commonly referred to as a “nose job”, is a surgical procedure performed that can dramatically improve or balance facial proportions. A septorhinoplasty is s a related procedure performed for patients who also have nasal obstruction. Septorhinoplasty not only improves the appearance of the nose, but it removes any internal obstructions and stabilizes structures that may be blocking nasal breathing.

Fun fact – I actually performed my first rhinoplasty 30 years ago and still love it as much as I did that first day!

The procedure itself can take anywhere from 1-2 hours and the recovery is usually 7-10 days, in which the swelling and bruising subsides. Whether the surgery is desired for functional or cosmetic reasons, your choice of a qualified facial plastic or plastic surgeon is extremely important. As with all plastic surgery, good health and realistic expectations are a must. BEFORE AFTER
