Just in time to help parents find the perfect place for their kids to spend the summer, The Children’s Trust has updated its free, trilingual mobile app with more than 300 fresh new summer camp and youth enrichment program listings, serving children and youth ages 6-18.

Upgrades to the app — which have fine tuned its geographic search capabilities — mean it is even easier for parents to pinpoint exactly what they are looking for, be it a camp within walking distance of work or home, or one with a focus on sports, STEM or the arts.

The largest funder of summer, after-school and youth enrichment programs in Miami-Dade County serving some 25,000 children at hundreds of sites each year, The Children’s Trust is dedicated to helping parents and caregivers make informed decisions as to where their children will spend their time on break, as well as offer a host of options to consider.

Indeed, 35 percent of the Trust’s entire current annual budget goes toward programs for school-age children and youth.

“This app has become the go-to resource for busy Miami-Dade County families searching for safe, affordable and engaging programs that support continued academic development,” said James R. Haj, Trust president and CEO. “Without them, kids can lose up to two months of their math and reading skills over the summer break. We’re committed to making sure that doesn’t happen to any child in our community.”

Introduced last year, the app allows parents to search for programs by neighborhood, address, area code or keyword (such as “ballet” or “soccer”), and features a new enhanced interface that makes toggling between map and list views a breeze.

The comprehensive directory includes detailed program descriptions, dates and hours of operation, eligibility requirements, fees and contact information. Every program serving children with disabilities is clearly marked; all Trust-funded providers are inclusive.

Articles offering advice on choosing the right camp, keeping up your kids’ academic progress, and fun (free) things to do in Miami this summer also are on tap. Users may choose to read them in English, Spanish or Haitian Creole.

As always, listings include not only Trust-funded camps and programs, but those supported by other funders and private organizations as well. Parents are strongly encouraged to seek free and low-cost options as early as possible; after subsidized slots have been filled, regular fees may apply.

The Children’s Trust mobile app is available for download at the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android), as well as online at www.thechildrenstrust.org. Information about available programs also may be obtained by calling the 2-1-1 helpline.
