City,Biltmore Hotel to host July 4 celebration

City,Biltmore Hotel to host July 4 celebrationResidents and visitors are invited to come out to enjoy another colorful fireworks celebration that will light up the skies over the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables on July 4.

The city and the Biltmore Hotel will host the event, and several others including the University of Miami, Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, and corporate citizens 396 Alhambra and HBO Latin America have come together to help sponsor this historic and patriotic event

“Because Coral Gables is home to our offices, the July Fourth celebration presents a great opportunity for HBO Latin America to get involved and show our continued support for the community and the city,” said Miguel Oliva, vice president of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs for HBO Latin America.

“We are delighted to be able to participate in this event and to provide residents, our employees and their families with a spectacular venue to celebrate this holiday in.”

This year’s celebration, free to the public, will begin at 5 p.m. and will include a special concert by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band at 7 p.m., concessions, patriotic mascots, and the fireworks show will begin promptly at 9 p.m. Additionally, Rhiannon Ally, co-anchor of CBS4 This Morning and CBS4 News at Noon will act as emcee at this year’s Independence Day celebration.

“We had an extraordinary event last July Fourth and we’re thrilled to be able to collaborate with the Biltmore Hotel and businesses to make this wonderful event happen again this year,” said Gables Mayor Jim Cason. “We are pleased to be co-hosting this special Independence Day Celebration with the City of Coral Gables,” said T. Gene Prescott, president of Seaway Hotels Corporation. “The Biltmore — a National Historic Landmark — provides a beautiful venue and surroundings for the fireworks display.”

The city will offer free parking and continuous shuttle service throughout the evening to and from the Biltmore Hotel. Shuttle service begins at 5 p.m. from the following locations:

• University of Miami: Ponce garage and BankUnited Center surface lot;

• Coral Gables Youth Center: 405 University Dr., and
