Coral Gables Woman’s Club sets Children’s Festival date

The Coral Gables Woman’s Club Children’s Festival will take place on Feb. 6, during Dental Health Month from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the clubhouse located at 1001 E. Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables.

The annual festival helps further the importance of dental health for children, highlights the club’s Coral Gables Children’s Dental Clinic, and gives children from the community a fun-filled time learning and participating in various activities.

The dental clinic, in existence since 1937, provides free dental services for children, ages 6-18 in the Miami-Dade community.

There will be a variety of activities where children can experience and explore police, fire, and water safety, dental hygiene, financial literacy, conservation, arts and crafts, and face painting.

Teh club is partnering with the Coral Gables Fire and Police departments, Kiddos magazine, the Venetian Aquatic Club, and the New York Community Bank, among others. A special story corner where the book The Legend of Zias will be read by the authors and they will share the characters from the book.

In order to inspire young minds, there will be a “Career Corner” where professionals will be talking about what it takes to become a dentist, acupuncturist, fireman, policeman, banker, teacher, artist, etc. Students from St. Brendan’s High School and other community organizations and schools will be volunteering to make this an enjoyable festival.

All children and parents in Miami-Dade County and other communities are invited to attend this free festival. Refreshments will be served and there will be shaved ice and popcorn available.
