Local malls are More Than Pink in fight against breast cancer

Dadeland Mall, Miami International Mall and The Falls have announced the Spring 2017 More Than Pink movement in support of Susan G. Komen and the fight against breast cancer.

As part of its pledge to donate $1 million each year in 2017 and 2018, more than 180 participating Simon Malls, The Mills and Premium Outlets nationwide will be participating in a range of activities through May.

“It has been wonderful to see the positive response that the More Than Pink movement has generated over the past year,” said Kristen Esposito, Simon’s vice president of Tourism and Marketing Alliances. “Our shoppers, retailers and employees have embraced the opportunities we’ve offered to support Susan G. Komen in its tireless efforts to reduce breast cancer deaths, and we look forward to continuing that momentum this year.”

Visitors to Dadeland Mall, Miami International Mall and The Falls will notice the pink theme carried out at the Guest Services booths and staff will be donning pink accessories. Planned activities include:

Dadeland Mall will participate in project:OM with four classes taught by Manduka Ambassador Sara Quiriconi from 9 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the Main Entrance front lawn (weather permitting). This class is designed for all levels, focusing primarily on standing and balance poses to help ground and reduce stress. No props necessary; perfect for first time yogis.

Miami International Mall will participate in project:OM with a yoga class taught by Manduka Ambassador Gaby Bjork on Saturday, May 13, from 9:30 until 9:50 a.m. in the Sears Court. This class is designed for all levels, focusing primarily on standing and balance poses to help ground and reduce stress. No props necessary; perfect for first time yogis.

The Falls will host Simon Signature Flow taught by Dharmi Yoga School from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Center Court.

Discount Card Program: Through May 31, in exchange for a $10 donation to Susan G. Komen, shoppers at Dadeland Mall, Miami International Mall and The Falls will receive a Discount Card, available at Guest Services or the Mall Office, providing up to 25 percent off one item at each participating retailer. All Discount Card donations go to Susan G. Komen.

Local Programming: “Race For The Cure” events and other activations will take place with local Simon teams working with Susan G. Komen affiliates. Simon encourages shoppers to locate and register for an event near them by visiting www.raceforthecure.org/Simon. Race for the Cure Miami takes place Oct. 14.

As of April 2017, Simon has raised $441,667 in support of Susan G. Komen, all generated through the support and participation of shoppers, retailers and employees.
