Amanaging partner and a principal of Evensky & Katz, Matt McGrath has a history of community volunteerism from an early age when his parents had he and his brother took food and gifts to a local retirement home, making sure the people who did not have family or friends visiting them knew people cared for them.

While Matt was born in Massachusetts, he spent is childhood in New Jersey and then Maryland, just outside Washington, DC. He graduated from Wootton High School in Rockville, MD. Following graduation, he entered the University of Miami where he has the distinction of being one of the first to earn his MBA in Personal Financial Planning after earning his BA in Economics.

Matt first joined Evensky and Katz as director of planning and now heads one of the firm’s planning teams, working directly with individuals and institutions — addressing their wealth management and financial planning needs.

Generously sharing his vast knowledge and expertise, Matt became one of the original members of the board of directors of the Financial Planning Association of Florida and currently serves as its chair. Also a founding member of the board of directors of the Financial Planning Association of Miami-Dade, he served two years as president. In addition, Matt gave of his time once again serving as Treasurer of the Gold Coast chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII).

As a Certified Financial Planner practitioner, he has earned the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor granted by the College for Financial Planning and is a recurring guest commentator on South Florida’s CBS affiliate, WFOR, as part of the station’s 4 Your Money Team. Matt is often quoted in both local and national media and has been published in the Journal of Retirement Planning, Financial Planning and Small Firm Business.

Through Evensky and Katz, Matt became involved in a program called Motivated Youth, formerly Youth 4 Tomorrow, through the Coral Gables Community Foundation. The program was designed to teach young people about philanthropic giving, having them review nonprofit proposals, make a pitch to a group for their assign proposals, and then deciding where to grant funds donated by the firm and others. Matt especially enjoys helping instill the concept of philanthropy in this younger generation that will have a multiplier effect generating future philanthropic giving.

When Matt is not volunteering his time and talent, he loves spending time with his wife, Norma, and children — Joey, Matthew and Hannah. He also is an avid basketball fan and, of course, loves the Canes.

A graduate of the University of Florida with a major in Spanish, Burns has an extensive background in advertising, marketing and reciprocal trade, travel , non profit consulting and management. Before joining Miami's Community Newspapers as a columnist and marketing specialist, Gloria was the Executive Director of the Jr. Orange Bowl Committee (6 yrs.) and first Executive Director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation (14 yrs.) and the Pinecrest Community Foundation (1 ½ yrs) . Burns' volunteer activities led her to become a columnist for Community Newspapers writing Gloria’s Gab, that focuses on the non-profit activity, and a host of an online show, Gloria's Gab LIVE. Gloria serves the board of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables as Civic and Charity Chair, and is involved in the club's International Committee. She is an active Life Member of the Jr. Orange Bowl Committee and is Secretary of the Merrick Festival. She serves on the board of directors of the Coral Gables Woman' Club as Publicity Chair and also coordinates the club's monthly fundraiser for various charities with Gringo Bingo at Clutch Burger. In addition, Gloria participates in numerous other charitable events and is a member of the Business Forum Group, Profit Inc., the Greater Miami Festival & Events Association and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. In other volunteer activity, Gloria helps Miami Christian School with fund-raising and PR; is an Ambassador and volunteers for events for A Safe Haven for Newborns. She is an active member of the Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she enjoys singing in the choir every weekend.
