In recognition of personal commitment to making a difference and giving back to the community through philanthropy, Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation and Miami Children’s Hospital Auxiliary crowned Anna May Conese as this year’s Queen of Hearts during the 44th Annual Queen of Hearts luncheon on Nov. 18 at Indian Creek Country Club.

Mrs. Conese, escorted by her husband Eugene P. Conese and granddaughter Katherine Conese, was crowned by former Queen of Hearts Swanee Dimare.

In the luncheon’s traditional fashion, the crowning was celebrated with an enchanting ceremony complete with princesses, ladies in waiting and princes charming.

Guests enjoyed an exclusive viewing of Sowinski jewelry and a seasonal fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue of Dadeland. Following the silent auction benefiting the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, guests were presented with Cartier favors.

Philanthropy continues to be an important national call to action. In fact, women’s work in philanthropy has been increasing steadily during the past decade and has surpassed that of men’s efforts within the United States.

Jennifer Valoppi captured the spirit of the event best when she commented about the new Queen of Hearts, Mrs. Conese, and said “this afternoon was in celebration of a wonderful woman who has dedicated the last quarter century of her life to the South Florida community. A woman whose philanthropic support and tireless efforts have reached all of us through the arts, education and most importantly — children’s healthcare.”

Miami Children’s Hospital Auxiliary Committee’s mission is to raise funds and awareness for Miami Children’s Hospital and its Foundation.

“The women of the Miami Children’s Hospital Auxiliary are remarkable examples of dedication to service and of the power of giving,” said Lucy Morillo-Agnetti, president of the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We are grateful for the support that helps our Foundation further its mission.”
