[dropcap]U[/dropcap]sing produce grown on site and as part of its Inside Vizcaya series, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is hosting a cooking class under the stars with chefs from The Naked Bite. Participants will enjoy a three course meal prepared before their eyes on Wednesday, January 28, at 6:30 p.m., in the Vizcaya Village, adjacent to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science. Admission is $60 for members and $75 for non-members. Tickets are available online and must be purchased in advance. Space is limited.
Visitors may not know the Vizcaya Village used to be home to a working farm; and Vizcaya’s staff used produce and eggs from that farm to create meals for Vizcaya owner James Deering and his guests. Vizcaya is taking its cue from history and literally interpreting farm-to-table as it hosts the dinner and cooking class right next to the vegetable garden.

Chef Amber Antonelli of The Naked Bite will use produce from the vegetable garden to prepare a hearty three course vegetarian meal, encouraging participants to indulge in locally sourced ingredients as they learn more about the Village farm’s history and enjoy a delicious meal under the stars.

About Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a National Historic Landmark that preserves the Miami estate of agricultural industrialist James Deering to engage our community and its visitors in learning through the arts, history and the environment. Built between 1914 and 1922, Vizcaya is one of the most intact remaining examples from this era in United States history, when the nation’s most successful entrepreneurs built lavish estates inspired by the stately homes of Europe.

Vizcaya features a Main House, 10 acres of formal gardens, a rockland hammock (native forest), mangrove shore, the Vizcaya Café and Shop presented by A Joy Wallace Catering, Design and Special Events, and a historic village that will be restored for additional venues for programs and community outreach. Located at 3251 South Miami Avenue, between Brickell Avenue and Coconut Grove, Vizcaya is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
