OLLI at UM will hold an Open House for new members on August 27

Are you past your 50th birthday, love to learn new things but hate homework, and want to make new friends? On Thursday, August 27, 2015, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Miami invites prospective members to come meet and talk with some of our current instructors and students. Share refreshments at Founder’s Hall on the Coral Gables Campus, 1550 Brescia Avenue. For directions, call (305) 284 – 6554. OLLI is where you can add “life” to living longer!

Thirty years ago, OLLI began at the University of Miami as the Institute for Retired Professionals (IRP). The name was changed in 2005 when the Osher Foundation became affiliated. The Osher Institutes, founded by grants from philanthropist Bernard Osher in 2001, are now available on university and college campuses across the country. These focus on the interests of older adults, many of whom are at retirement age and who enjoy learning for its own sake. Coming to classes at OLLI at UM provides purpose and intellectual stimulation: a place to go and do. Members are attending lectures on topics as diverse as Music, Art History, Investments, Jewelry Making and Chair Yoga! Classes are non-credit without tests or grades to worry about – just to enjoy, with occasional field trips to sites of interest. Current class offerings can be found online at www.continue.miami.edu/olli or call (305) 284 – 6554 for a catalog.
