A delicious piece of Italy has arrived at the heart of Coral Gables.
Panzerotti’s Cucina Italiana recently opened its doors at 98 Miracle Mile and is now serving authentic dishes from Italy’s southern region including the famous and mouth-watering panzerotti, deep fried pockets of dough stuffed with a variety of fillings.
Owner Isbeliana Linares, born in Venezuela, and her family dreamed of opening a store on Miracle Mile to offer her husband’s gastronomy from his native southern Italy.
“We always loved what Coral Gables has to offer. Our dream has come true and we are bringing the Italian culture and traditional food to the city that we love,” she said.
The restaurant also serves healthy salads, pasta and fresh made pizzas. But the spotlight is on the panzerotti, which originated in central and southern Italy, especially in Apulia. The tasty treat is a small version of a calzone, but made with softer dough and most commonly filled with delicious tomato and mozzarella.
Linares said the establishment prides itself in serving fresh meals to its patrons.
“All the food we make is made on the spot,” she said. “As people try it, they simply love it.”
Panzerotti’s is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until midnight and is closed on Sundays.
