Series of free lunchtime jazz concerts scheduled in Gables

Jazz group Mad Romance is pictured performing at the Coral Gables Museum.

If you haven’t been to Downtown Coral Gables on Wednesday afternoons you’re missing out on enjoying live jazz concerts.

Jazz in the Gables, scheduled every Wednesday until Apr. 27, presents a different musician every week. The free performances are in the large open plaza at the Coral Gables Museum from noon to 2 p.m. Box lunches from various Coral Gables restaurants will be available for purchase.

The following is a list of upcoming performances:

Mar. 9, Singer Dana Paul will captivate the audience with his vocal ability and electric personality.

Mar. 16, Listen to the beautiful voice of Nicole Yarling, considered a rising star in the jazz community.

Mar. 23, Indulge in the smooth jazz and bossa nova sounds of Brazil with singer Rose Max and acoustic guitarist Ramatis.

Mar. 30, Enjoy classic jazz music played by the New World School of the Arts’ Jazz Combo One.

Apr. 6, The Grammy-nominated Araya Orta Latin Jazz Quartet boasts a repertoire of original songs that combine the rhythms of popular Latin American music with traditional jazz.

Apr. 13, Listen to Florida International University’s Big Band, an internationally recognized college jazz ensemble.

Apr. 20, Enjoy the University of Miami’s Stamp Jazz Quintet, composed of young jazz musicians.

Apr. 27, Saxophonist Joe Donato closes the series with his improvisational style and versatility of wind instruments.

The Wednesday Jazz in the Gables series is presented in partnership with the Downtown Coral Gables Business Improvement District, Miami Jazz Cooperative, and the Coral Gables Museum.
