The Swiss American Club of Miami celebrated the 726th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation on Sunday, July 30, at Fritz and Franz Bierhaus in Coral Gables. The actual National Day is Aug. 1.

Almost 140 people came, many dressed in their Swiss clothes or T-shirts, to celebrate this event. The entire restaurant was decorated with Swiss lanterns, flags and balloons. The Tombola/Raffle table was filled with 100 prizes generously donated by sponsors.

With Swiss wine and delicious Swiss food the party started and everyone was excited to get some Swiss taste. Everyone watched the video of the National Day 2017 greetings for the Swiss abroad by Doris Leuthard, president of the Swiss Confederation, followed by the National Anthem of Switzerland. At evening the children received Swiss Lanterns for the parade and walk around the neighborhood of the restaurant.

The event was supported by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta and the Consulate of Switzerland in Miami, Honorary Consul Ferdinand Kurt.

The Swiss Club is managed by six board members whp work on a voluntary basis. At present the club has over 350 members who live and work in the Greater Miami area.
