Taste of the Gables begins 8th annual Restaurant Week

Foodies from all over will come together for “Taste of the Gables,” the Restaurant Week launch party.

Mark your calendars, because Downtown Coral Gables will celebrate its eighth annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week presented by Bacardi USA Inc., from June 8 to 28, with delicious new restaurants and exciting new events.

“Now in its eighth year, Coral Gables Restaurant Week has become one of South Florida’s premier gastronomic events,” said Marina Foglia, executive director of the Business Improvement District of Coral Gables. “One of the things that sets Coral Gables apart from the rest of Miami is its broad array of fine cuisine rivaling any other international city. Coral Gables Restaurant Week offers carefully crafted three-course prix-fixe menus with at least a 20 percent savings, allowing veterans and newcomers alike an opportunity to explore new eateries and return to old favorites.”

It all begins on Thursday, June 4, when foodies from all over will come together for “Taste of the Gables,” the Restaurant Week launch party. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Westin Colonnade, 180 Aragon Ave., attendees will taste samples from Restaurant Week participants, cast their votes and select the winner for “Best Taste of the Gables.”

Visit online at www.coralgablesrestaurantweek.com for more information and to purchase tickets. General admission tickets are $30 in advance online and $35 at the door. VIP tickets are available for $55 online and $65 at the door. VIP ticket holders will have access to all general admission areas, plus enjoy the Bacardi rum open bar, additional food stations, and a fabulous goody bag to take home. This event is for ages 21 and over.

For the next three weeks following the launch, participating restaurants will offer special three-course, prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus at discounted pricing. Guests, who are 21 years of age and older, can pair those meals with the classic Bacardi and Coke, the official cocktail of Coral Gables Restaurant Week, and Martini Prosecco as the featured wine.

“Everyday more restaurants sign up,” Foglia said. “It’s going to be a delicious three weeks.” To date, there are 40 restaurants participating.
