The all-Villager trio of Karen Alexander, new member Susan Medina, and Sweet Pea Ellman swept to a first-place finish in The Villagers recent Historic Hunt and Road Rally.

“Road Trip Through Redland History” was the theme that took teams on a two-hour adventure beginning and ending at the Woman’s Club of Homestead. Clues were answered at 10 interesting sites including the 100-plus-year-old Redland Farm Life School, Art Deco-inspired Seminole Theater (The Villagers donated funds to restore the iconic marque.), and the pink St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

The creatively inspired Hunt Team included Clue Masters Jane Petrick and Dolly MacIntyre with Lorraine Sheldon, Joan Bounds, Kathleen McLaughlin, Joanne Meagher and Sheryl Gold.

The Villagers Inc., founded in 1966, is Miami-Dade County’s oldest historic preservation organization. Hosting Historic Hunts for more than 30 years, the group has developed a reputation for creating laughs and good-natured team competition while exposing the little-known, often quirky side of local history.
