The Woman’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami (WCA), Barton Ravlin Chapter, is busy getting ready for its annual gala, Dancing for a Cure, to take place on Feb. 28 at the UM Newman Alumni Center, 6200 San Amaro Dr. in Coral Gables.
The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. and include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, food stations of every kind, a wonderful silent auction, dancing, and, most importantly, recognizing WCA’s cancer researchers of the year for 2015: Drs. Kobetz, Daunert and Deo of UM’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Elliot Rodriguez, CBS4 News anchor, will serve as emcee for the event, and because WCA is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 organization, 100 percent of the proceeds from this special evening will be donated to the University of Miami for cancer research.
WCA’s primary goals are to fund cancer research for improved treatments and cures for all kinds of cancers, to provide for unmet needs of cancer patients being treated at UM and to promote cancer education in South Florida.
Since its inception, the group has donated more than $12 million to UM for cancer research and met the needs of hundreds of cancer patients.
Guests are most welcome, and donations/ sponsorships are happily accepted. Lourdes Beltran of the Woman’s Cancer Association serves as this year’s gala chair. To purchase tickets ($125 per person) or inquire about auction donations and sponsorships, contact Beltran at 786-543-0868, by email at email@example.com or at Woman’s Cancer Association of UM, Barton Ravlin Chapter, 1350 W.
