2016 Lincoln MKX

The 2016 Lincoln MKX is an all-new, second-generation model and better than ever before.

Attractive styling and conveniently sized, the MKX is a phenomenal crossover SUV option. This year’s MKX also comes with more powertrain choices than in previous years now with an available 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6. Additionally, with four different trim options, the MKX has several options to choose from.

There are four trim levels (Lincoln calls them Groups): Premiere, Select, Reserve and Black Label.

Standard equipment for the MKX in the base Premier trim includes: automatic xenon headlights, LED taillights, keyless ignition and entry, remote engine start, rear parking sensors, rear privacy glass, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, active noise cancellation, heated eight-way power front seats (with power lumbar support), adaptive suspension dampers (AWD models only), driver memory functions, a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and a reclining, 60/40-split second-row seat with power-folding seatbacks.

The MKX also includes a wide array of standard technology features such as: voice controls, an eight-inch touchscreen display (which has two options either with the MyLinocln Touch infotainment or the Sync 3 system), Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, rearview camera, and a 10-speaker audio system with a CD player, satellite radio, an aux, and two USB ports.

The 2016 Lincoln MKX offers more powertrain choice than it did last year. The base engine is still a 3.7-liter V-6, with 303 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. However, for more power, there is an available 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 that is capable of 335 hp and 380 pound-feet of torque. It’s a zippy, powerful ride. When fitted with the 335 hp V6, the MKX can run to 60 mph from its resting state at a quick six seconds.

As if these aforementioned trim and engine options are not enough, the 2016 MKX also offers a variety of packages. A variety of options packages are available for the 2016 Lincoln MKX. The Cargo Utility is a great option for outdoorsy types and for families; it includes a cargo net and tie-downs, scruff plates, plastic storage bins, a 110-volt outlet and a cargo cover.

A Climate package is available, but it may not be the most useful in South Florida as it includes heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic windshield wipers and automatic high beams.

The Reserve and Black Label versions get several unique package options, including the handy Technology package, which provides 360-camera view, Driver Assistance, and Luxury.

The 2016 Lincoln MKX is completely different from that of last year’s model. Unsurprisingly, Lincoln has drastically stepped up the MKX as far as its performance. Better yet, is the MKX’s several options — providing two engines to choose from, four trims and a multitude of packages sure to suit your needs. Whether you want a family crossover, or want to sit in the lap of luxury, the 2016 Lincoln MKX has you covered.

The MSRP for the 2016 Lincoln MKX starts at $38,260.
