‘THE ART OF AGING GRACEFULLY’ AT EAST RIDGE AT CUTLER BAY, FLA.

WHAT: Dr. Sarah J. Czaja, noted psychologist and professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and Director of Center on Aging at University of Miami is presenting a lecture, “The Art of Aging Gracefully.”

She draws on her long professional career in the areas of aging and cognition, family caregiving, and aging and technology, helping to ensure that older adults lead active and productive lives.  Dr. Czaja’s will address real world problems and contexts, and the strategies used to implement intervention programs and other services for aging seniors.

Dr. Czaja will also talk about the dynamic process of aging, and the challenges and opportunities associated with the older adult population – from learning new things and creating experiences, and the positive gains that can be made in functioning.

Dr. Czaja is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Industrial Engineering, and Scientific Director of the Center on Aging at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

She is also the Director of the Center on Research and Education for Aging and Technology Enhancement (CREATE).  CREATE is funded by the National Institute on Aging and involves collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology and Florida State University. The focus of CREATE is on making technology more accessible, useful, and usable for older adults.
