Town officials and Burlington representatives symbolically cut ribbon to open the new store.

Burlington joined other retailers in Cutler Bay on Friday, Sept. 30, when it opened a store located in the Point Royale Shopping Center. Located at 19191 S. Dixie Highway, the 50,461-square-foot store has created some 140 jobs.

Mayor Peggy Bell, Vice Mayor Ernie Sochin and town manager Rafael Casals attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony on behalf of the town.

The mayor and vice mayor also participated through the Burlington Gives Back Program in partnership with KIDS/Fashion Delivers.

Burlington demonstrated its commitment to being socially responsible by donating new merchandise to locally based Chapman Partnership which provides a comprehensive support program for the homeless. Both Bell and Sochin took part in the moving of boxes for the Chapman Partnership.

The town also accepted a check from Burlington made payable to DonorsChoose.org in the amount of $10,661 to support Cutler Bay school projects.

The town updated its Strategic Master Plan in 2015 and strengthened the town’s commitment to “enhance the attractiveness and viability of Cutler Bay as a business location.” Burlington joins a growing list of new businesses such as El Dorado Furniture, Starbucks, Space Coast Credit Union, Chipotle, City Furniture, Ashley Furniture, and East Ridge Health Center. Those businesses combined have created approximately 360 new jobs in the community.

“Burlington opening a location here in Cutler Bay serves to reaffirm what we have known about our town for a long time,” Mayor Bell said.

“We offer a prime location for businesses that desire to attract a diverse customer base, quality employee pool, and town staff that is willing to work with you to overcome any barriers or challenges to opening your new business.”

Tom Kingsbury, chair and CEO of Burlington Stores, was pleased to launch the store in the area.

“We are thrilled to open a new Burlington in the Cutler Bay community, bringing even more jobs to the neighborhood and providing local residents with a valued shopping experience,” Kingsbury said.

Burlington is a large retailer with roots that date back to 1924. Now a publicly traded company, Burlington operates more than 550 stores nationwide and employs more than 30,000 associates. Burlington Stores has remained successful by making value a top priority. Through “strategic purchasing,” it offers the latest in branded clothing, shoes, accessories, baby products, and home furnishings at great savings.

Town staff suggests that anyone considering opening a business in Cutler Bay should contact Planning and Zoning director Kathryn Lyon at 305-234-4262 or visit the town’s website at www.cutlerbay-fl.gov.
