Miami-Dade County Commissioner Lynda Bell joined the caring pediatric nursing team at Patches PPEC for her second monthly “Work Day” on Tuesday, Apr. 26.

As part of her monthly program designed to obtain a “hands-on” appreciation of the everyday pressures and challenges that local private sector institutions face on a daily basis, Commissioner Bell was asked by the administration of Patches PPEC to become a member of its nursing, caregiver staff. The Pediatric Alternative Treatment, Care, Housing and Evaluation Services Inc. — Patches PPEC — is a State of Florida-licensed Healthcare Facility located in Florida City that cares for children with advanced disabilities.

Patches PPEC combines the expertise of licensed pediatric nurses, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation therapists and certified teachers to provide a safe, cost effective and stimulating environment for disabled children ranging in ages from birth to 21 years of age.

“The dedicated team here at Patches is nothing short of miracle workers,” Commissioner Bell said. “These remarkable men and women have dedicated their lives’ work toward the care and advancement of infant, toddlers and young children with advanced disabilities.

“What better way to support their good work than by helping them obtain the tools necessary so they can continue to provide the nurturing, caring environment these wonderful but severely fragile children need.”
