Elementary students entertain crowd at “Turkeys on Strike” show.

Students at Miami Christian School wrapped up the year in grand fashion as elementary students and their families in November enjoyed Thanksgiving feasts and a special performance of Turkeys on Strike, a comical musical performance highlighting all students in a variety of ways delighting their  audience.

That same month, 14 drama students participated in the District 8 “Thespian Individual Events Conference,” all doing well in Duet Scenes, Monologues, Pantomime, Solo and Duet Musical Theatre. Special recognition went to the following: David Quintero, Excellent in Pantomime; Alex Rios, DJ Penate, John Ramirez and Miguel Gonzalez, all Excellent in Pantomime; Rebecca Naranjo, Excellent in Solo Musical Theatre; Rebecca Naranjo and David Quintero Excellent in Duet Musical Theatre.

Miami Christian School is proud as alumni continue contribute to their communities and excel.  Most recently, four were successful in November elections:  David Rivera (‘82), winning a seat for the 25th U. S. Congressional District; Eric Friesen, (husband of Ethel Rodriguez Friesen (’93). reelected to District 111, Florida State House of Representatives; Manuel Marono (father of sixth grade student, Justin Marono) and Mayor of Sweetwater, named to the Advisory Board of Governor-elect Rick Scott; and  Luigi Boria (father of former student, Maria Boria) elected to the District Two seat on Doral’s City Commission.

December brought more special performances: the Drama Group directed by Diana Williams performed a one act play at Roxy Theater, and MCS High School Chorus performed a Christmas concert at the Coral Gables Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  MCS bands and elementary students, directed by Derek Shute,  also gave Christmas performances on campus before a well- deserved Christmas break.

With the beginning of the New Year, Miami Christian School began planning the coming year and encouraging interested parents to attend an Admissions Open House on Thursday, January 20 on campus at 200 NW 109th Avenue, 4 to 6 p.m.   This is a great opportunity to see the various programs and opportunities MCS offers children from ages 18 months thru Grade 12 in senior high school.
