Monsignor Tomas Marin’s service celebrated

Monsignor Tomas Marin receives official Proclamation from Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez.

After nine faithful years serving as the first pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Doral, Monsignor Tomas Marin has been assigned to a new parish. For hundreds of parishioners who gathered on May 22 for a concert program in his honor, it was an evening to celebrate all priests but especially their own Monsignor Marin.

As an added surprise, City of Doral Mayor J.C. Bermudez, a member of the congregation, presented Marin with a framed proclamation naming May 22, 2010, as “Monsignor Tomas Marin Day in Doral.”

Music Ministry Director, Rosario Duran with Monica Ponce and many others worked with the choir and other ministries to organize the evening that featured emcees Barbara Romani and Antonio Fernandez.

One of the first families of the parish, Rene and Cristina Negron, representing the parish, presented Msgn,. Marin with a gift of an alb, a vestment featuring an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe with the hopes that the gift would remind him of the parish he founded. Msgr.Marin brought all to tears when he told the crowd, “You never forget your first love and this church was my first church as a pastor and my first love. I will never forget you.”

Our Lady of Guadalupe will soon be building a new church but, until that time, will hold masses at Doral Middle Charter School Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. Msgr. Marin will be dividing his time between St. Timothy’s and Our Lady of Guadalupe until the new Archbishop names his replacement.

  1. Tomas Marin is a phony and a fraud. He has no time for the church or the people, much less to be principal of a school. Pray he never lands in your parish.
