New Moe’s Southwest Grill draws diners seeking year of burritos

Determined to win a year’s supply of fresh-made burritos, around 100 hungry residents lined up for hours at El Dorado Plaza in Cutler Bay on Nov. 10 waiting for the grand opening of Moe’s Southwest Grill.

Although everyone came out a winner with $5 opening day burritos, it was the first 50 lucky guests at the door who really won big with 50 free burritos through 2017. The new, bright and friendly restaurant at 19270 S. Dixie Hwy. also offered first-day guests a chance to spin the wheel for other delectable coupons, Moe’s merchandise, and other tasty offers.

First in line for the 11 a.m. opening, Jerry Gonzalez of Cutler Bay was caught on camera with a big winner’s smile saying, “Burritos baby, free burritos baby.” He heard about the promotion on Facebook before heading out to wait more than four hours for his reward. Another satisfied winner, who had stood patiently in line since 6:30 a.m., proclaimed “Victory this morning! Now you better open up!”

And open they did, to cheers of “Welcome to Moe’s! Welcome to Moe’s,” the restaurant’s signature greeting that staff belted out at the top of their lungs as soon as the hungry guests walked through the door.

General manager Jose Hernandez and his super exuberant crew were standing ready to start serving up the Southwestern fare and all the sides that make Moe’s such a hit with diners. Topping the list is their most popular burrito, lovingly called the “Homewrecker,” and Moe’s world-famous queso.

“We’re really happy to be here in Culter Bay,” Hernandez said. “I just know we’re going to be a big hit in this community. I mean, they certainly love us today, that’s clear!”

Restaurant management also hosted a VIP lunch for all Town of Cutler Bay employees the day before as well as a free VIP dinner for all Cutler Bay teachers that same night.

Moe’s is a rapidly growing brand with a loyal following throughout Florida and across the entire U.S.  Founded in Atlanta in 2000, their claim to fame is, each meal is created-to-order in a way that is as unique as the people Moe’s serves.

With more than 20 incredibly fresh ingredients like all-natural chicken, grass-fed steak, and organic tofu to create one-of-a-kind meals, Moe’s appeals to meat lovers, tree huggers, vegetarians, and flexitarians. The menu also features kids’ options, vegetarian, and low-calorie selections.

“And no matter the meal, guests always get free chips and salsa,” Hernandez added.

Another signature feature is the fun and engaging environment at Moe’s that “truly rocks,” Hernandez said. From menu items with pop-culture names like Earmuffs, Wrong Doug, Close Talker, and Joey Bag of Donuts to their hand-selected playlist of tunes remembering popular late musicians, “it’s safe to say we roll to our own beat.”
