Members of the Miami-Dade Police Department conducted a carwash on Saturday, Oct. 2, to raise money for a fallen comrade, Officer Duncan Kidson, a Cutler Bay resident who was injured in an automobile accident on Sept. 18.

Officer Kidson, a much-respected and well-liked member of the force, was off duty when another driver ran a red light and struck the side of his car in a “Tbone” type crash. Kidson was injured severely and remains in critical condition, undergoing intensive treatment.

The carwash took place at Peterson’s Harley Davidson at 19825 S. Dixie Hwy. in Cutler Bay with police officers and other volunteers participating. Among them were Cutler Bay Vice Mayor Ed MacDougall (a former police officer) and Officer Jody Wright, who was wounded in the leg when her partner, Jose Somohano, was killed in the line of duty during an incident in September 2007.
