seraphic460x280_1South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, 10950 SW 211 St. in Cutler Bay, and Seraphic Fire presented Bach + Mahler on Sunday, Apr. 19, at 4 p.m.

Tickets are $20-$55. Contact the Box Office by calling 786-573-5300 or online at SMDCAC.org.

Patrick Dupré Quigley, joined by Metropolitan Opera star tenor Bryan Hymel, legendary mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer, and rising young baritone Dashon Burton, explores the haunting emotions contained within Bach’s Ich Habe Genug and Rainer Riehn’s intimate re-orchestration of Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde. Bach and Mahler, like no other composers, were able capture a spiritual depth and profundity in their compositions. This will be an evening of unrivaled musical ecstasy.

Bach + Mahler is made possible through a generous grant by the Knight Foundation and the Clinton Family Fund, Bruce and Martha Clinton.

Seraphic Fire is regarded widely as one of the most important professional chamber ensembles in the United States. Made up of the best ensemble singers from across the United States, Seraphic Fire saw two recordings — Brahms: Ein Deutsches Requiem and A Seraphic Fire Christmas — receive nominations in Best Choral and Best Small Ensemble categories, respectively, of the 2012 GRAMMY Awards. Seraphic Fire was the only choral ensemble in North or South America to be nominated, and the only classical ensemble in the world to be nominated for two separate projects. The ensemble’s repertoire and recording catalogue spans over one thousand years of sacred music, from Gregorian chant to newly commissioned works.
