Connie Goodman-Milone recently was elected president of South Florida Writers Association.
A long standing member of South Florida Writers Association, she has served in several positions on the board of directors throughout the years. She is a writer and a poet with a strong passion for Haiku poetry.
The gavel was passed to Goodman-Milone by Estefania Uribe, whose term ended on June 30.
Rex Russo served as the installation officer and guest speaker. He is a lawyer with over 30 years of legal experience in the Miami area. Russo shared with the group a story about volunteering with a group of autistic children, and how a child he was assigned to work with positively and profoundly impacted his life.

The purpose of the South Florida Writers Association is to establish and maintain a forum for fellowship, education and information among writers; assist in establishing and supporting high literary standards; encourage and promote interest in literary achievements in the community.
To fulfill the writing aspirations of members, the association provides guest speakers, annual conferences, literary contests, critique groups and a booth for selling published books at the Miami Book Fair International.
Meetings take place the first Saturday of the month, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at the Pinecrest Library, 5835 SW 111 St.
