The Nieves family and friends raised more than $7,000 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Light the Night Walk” on Nov. 3 at Bayfront Park.
Parents of Evangeline Nieves, Jason and Lisa, became involved in the not-for-profit organization after 5-year-old daughter Evangeline was diagnosed with leukemia last year. The family is doing wonderfully thanks in part to an incredible outpouring of support from the Cutler Bay community.
Mom Lisa is happy to report that Evangeline is in remission and her prognosis is excellent.
“This fundraising is way beyond anything we could have imagined; the support has been tremendous,” Lisa said. “We are so grateful to everyone who made it possible. Thank you!”
