To the Editor:
Last week the Cutler Bay Town Council followed the lead of the Homestead City Council, with a unanimous resolution to welcome The Fair to South Dade.
I could not be more proud of our city’s leadership. This is the kind of vision and aggressive pursuit of economic development we need in our area. Now we just have to persuade The Fair to make its new home in South Dade.
My wife and I, both FIU alumni, also are proud of the role FIU plays within our ever-growing community, now the fourth largest university in the country. The plan proposed by FIU — complete with educational components and business incubation elements — will lead to a better South Dade for all of us.
I support The Fair’s relocation to South Dade and our leaders should as well. We must not forgot that every great city has a great public university.
