Cutler Bay resident and businesswoman Barbara Wilson took second place in Judges Award at the Chili Cook-Off hosted by the Coral Gables Knights of Columbus on Saturday, Jan. 9.
Owner of the Blooming Gardens florist shop at 20462 Old Cutler Rd. in Cutler Bay, Wilson and Gene Bechamps were competing as the Allen’s Family Drug Store team, preparing her grandfather John Allen’s recipe, known for years as “the hottest chili in town” when it was on the menu at the diner in Allen’s Drugs in South Miami.
Wilson’s grandfather was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Gene Bechamps, a resident of South Miami, is a member as well.
