A hidden urban oasis, La Otra is the newest upscale bar and lounge offering expansive choices in how to spend your night

La Otra, Miami’s upscale bar and lounge, has moved from its former Brickell location to a new indoor/outdoor space in the booming Wynwood neighborhood. Tucked away behind a black iron gate, La Otra is found through a back entrance on the far end of NE 24 Street, off N Miami Ave. Known for its oversized disco balls, great music and energetic atmosphere, the popular venue is ready to welcome back locals and international guests alike.

“What is so unique about La Otra is the variety of experiences you can have here,” says Marcelo Medina, partner of La Otra. “One day you can come to La Otra, have a few drinks on the deck and be home by midnight, another night you might be on the dance floor until the early morning. The opportunities are endless.”

“Eventually our Brickell location gained so much popularity that we outgrew the space,” adds Jason Odio, partner of La Otra. “We took the time during the pandemic to research and seek a new home for our patrons. With Wynwood continuing to transform into a global destination, we felt La Otra would be right at home in the neighborhood. We’re excited to be back.”

Through the black iron gate at the end of NE 24 street is the entrance to La Otra. Once inside, guests find themselves on an outdoor porch with a tropical garden that creates an intimate atmosphere, La Otra’s signature disco balls and lush plants all hanging from the ceiling. Plush mix and match chesterfield sofas surround the outdoor space. A focal indoor/outdoor, 360 degree, bar anchors the space and provides ample access to guests. The outdoor space gives guests a front-row seat to check out the iconic Miami skyline, the famous graffiti walls of Wynwood and from time to time a passing train.

La Otra’s interior is an urban oasis with ample greenery, custom green velvet couches and disco balls that surround the bar and dance floor. The walls are adorned with subtle tropical-themed wallpaper, stucco and art deco- styled architecture that sends guests back to the heyday of Miami.

Partners Jason and Marcelo each bring important pieces to the masterpiece that is La Otra. Their goal was not to not only create an amazing lounge but to offer a gathering place for the Latin community. At La Otra, you are just as likely to run into old friends as you are to make new ones. The sense of community that they established in Brickell is now found at the new Wynwood location.

The beverage program at La Otra offers a wide selection of choices with a heavy emphasis on scotch, tequila and mezcal. The specialty cocktails have playful names such as “Lucia” which is a tequila, lime and grapefruit soda cocktail; and the “Marina” which is a mix of Sacrvm Mezcal, panela syrup, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice and prosecco.

La Otra is located at 55 NE 24th St, Miami, FL 33137 and is open from Thursday to Saturday 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. and Sunday 8 p.m. – 3 a.m. For more information visit www.laotramiami.com, call (305) 908-9368 or check them out on Instagram at @laotramiami.
