Local Celebrity Chef Chris Valdes and Community Newspapers’ Inspire Health celebrated the cover of the May edition of the magazine with an event hosted by Sloan’s Ice Cream at CityPlace Doral, followed by an after-party at Kings Dining and Entertainment right across the way.
It was a “sweet” night of food, fun, ice cream, and karaoke as Chef Chris, featured on the cover of the May-June edition of the natural-living magazine. in celebration of his 27th birthday – and Inspire Health’s milestone 21st issue.
It was also a night of reflection for Valdes, who grew up without his parents. The early days for self-made Celebrity Chef Chris Valdes were not easy, as he and his family lost their home and their family restaurant when he was only six years old.
However, his passion for the culinary arts, coupled with his enthusiasm and hard work over the years earned him a scholarship to attend the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. After graduation, Valdes remembers ruling out law school to instead create his very own catering company, Best Chefs Catering.
From there it has only gone quite well for this young talent. Valdes has accomplished feats that any successful seasoned chef would call impressive at his age. He has starred in his successful YouTube Channel, “Cooking with Chris,” and has been on the covers of several magazines, important publications, and featured in local newspapers.
Additionally, Valdes makes an impact in the local community by supporting many philanthropic causes, including the American Liver Foundation and Chapman Partnership.
He was also recently chosen as Principal for the Day for his high school and was selected to present the keynote speech to students entering Miami Dade College’s Culinary Institute.
Chef Chris participated in this year’s South Beach Food & Wine Festival as a featured chef in the Grand Tasting Village; and was the only chef from Miami invited to Puerto Rico’s “Saborea,” the Caribbean’s largest food festival.
