Several hundred Doral business community and government leaders celebrated the Doral Business Council’s Third Annual Legacy Gala that also commemorated DBC’s tenth year anniversary year on December 6.

The “Gatsby”- themed event at Trump National honored Miami-Dade County Commissioner Jose “Pepe”Diaz; Barbara Pimentel, Executive Vice President/ Director of the Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association, Inc.; and Dr. Alejandro Badia, renowned orthopedic surgeon, founder of Badia Hand to Shoulder Center and OrthoNOW, as well as cofounder of the MARC Center.

Among the attending VIPs were Doral Mayor Luigi Boria, former Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez, former Doral Vice Mayors Robert Van Name and Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera, Miss Doral Valentina Esquivel, and others representing the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund, Americas’ Community Center, the Port of Miami and others.

Gala speakers highlighted important matters relating to Doral including health, education and development, and how businesses are preparing for the growth and expansion expected in Doral in the next few years.

“In 2014 the Doral Business Council held a number of valued events with the emphasis of enhancing membership value,” said DBC Chairman Raul Pino in his opening remarks. Among those events: Ivanka Trump Luncheon, Racing to Success Business Expo, Healthcare Breakfast Panel, and the Annual Legacy Gala. “We look forward to an even better 2015 as our membership continues to increase and even greater events are planned,” he continued. “Let’s keep Doral’s economic development on the move.”

A tuxedoed monkey welcomed guests to the cocktail reception, awards ceremony and dinner highlighted by artistic presentations of performer Jenny Love and her dancers, wearing “Roaring 20’s” pearls and hats to represent symbolically the economic boom Doral is expected to experience in coming years.

Major corporation sponsors for the event included Downtown Doral (Codina Partners); Kendall Regional Medical Center; Mercantil Commercebank; Miami International Mall (Simon Mall); Perry Ellis; Florida Power & Light; Florida International University; Ocean Mazda; Doral GMC Buick; Diario las Americas; The Miami Herald; and the City of Doral, among others.Part of event proceeds were donated to the Casimiro Global Foundation supporting entrepreneurial spirit among youth as business leaders of tomorrow.

Founded in 2004, Doral Business Council is a non-profit 501C (6) business development organization, hosting monthly events that promote member-to-member relationships by providing a formal and professional venue for businesses to promote products and services.

DBC also offers friendly advocacy in matters that may have an adverse effect in the open trade and overall growth of the business community and enjoys strategic alliances with other member-based organizations to strengthen a positive voice for Doral’s economic betterment.
