Doral, Oranjestad, Aruba sign Sister City agreement

History was made in the Doral Council Chambers May 6 as the City of Doral and the City of Oranjestad, Aruba signed a Sister City agreement, a first for Doral to pledge active collaboration and stimulate bilateral trade between the two thriving municipalities.

Residents of both cities will engage in mutually beneficial cultural, educational and business exchanges that will promote lasting friendship between the two communities. The Sister City initiative is a priority for Doral, underscoring the importance of establishing these relationships abroad to further the City’s smart growth program.

Mayor Luigi Boria executed the agreement for the City of Doral and M.G. “Mike” Eman, Prime Minister of Aruba, signed on behalf of Oranjestad. Also in attendance for this momentous occasion was Councilwoman Sandra Ruiz. Community leaders, Aruban business owners and Doral residents who filled the chamber to capacity to share in the occasion.

Guests later

enjoyed a reception in the rotunda with live music by renowned Aruban pianist, Johnny Scharbaay, and Caribbean inspired cuisine infused with the flavors of Aruba.
