RUBY’S ACADEMY IS PARTNERING WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO LAUNCH OUR
1ST ANNUAL “BACK TO SCHOOL” SUPPLY DRIVE
“Back to School” Supply drive is to support the Students of Lauderhill City
On August 10th, from 1pm -3pm, Ruby’s Academy for Health Occupations partnered with Family and Friends Connections, a non- profit organization that helps underprivileged children to host a “Back to School” supply drive for students in Lauderhill City neighborhoods. This year both organizations are hoping to be able to give away at least 100 packages and each package will include, book bags, exercise books, folders, pens, pencils, etc.
If you would like to donate supplies to this event, the drop off location for all supplies is 4343 W Sunrise Blvd in Plantation, just a block west of 441. Donations and supplies are now being accepted. If you would like additional information on setting up a booth or becoming a sponsor, please contact either Endya Sutton or Arielle Rose at 954-584-1970, sponsorship will be given for a donation of book supplies. We will also be pre-registering children without insurance for free immunizations in lieu with Broward Health Organization.
This event was created to meet the needs of the students in this underrepresented area. Each year, Broward County Centers distribute at least $500,000 in free school supplies to their local districts from generous donations. However despite this, the need for supplies grow more each year and often teachers have to use their own funds to purchase these supplies. In an area like Lauderhill City, both parents and teachers are not only tasked with living in an economically underrepresented area but also with finding resources to support the education of their youth. Ruby’s Academy as well as Family and Friends, believe community responsibility means doing everything we can to assist these parents and teachers. There will be entertainment and light refreshments served while they last as well.
