Cesar L. Alvarez, co-chair of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, will be honored at the 2013 Annual Solidarity Annual Gala Dinner of the Greater Miami Chapter of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF). The event, which will also salute the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces and celebrate Israel’s 65th anniversary, takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at The Westin Diplomat Hotel, 3555 S Ocean Dr., Hollywood, FL, 33019. According to its website, FIDF is a nonprofit organization with headquarters in New York City and chapters throughout the United States supporting the soldiers who serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as well as the families of fallen soldiers.

Throughout his career, Alvarez has been recognized nationally and in his community for his professional, business and charitable leadership, including being named several times by The National Law Journal as one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in America.”
Alvarez, who joined Greenberg Traurig in 1973 as the firm’s 13th lawyer, practiced securities, corporate and international law for more than 25 years. In 1997, he began his tenure as CEO and grew the firm from 325 lawyers in eight offices to approximately 1850 attorneys and government professionals in more than 30 locations in the United States, Europe and Asia, including strategic alliances in Milan and Rome, Italy. Recently, he was named the firm’s co-chair.
