Damon Runyon’s hit adaptation of Abe Burrow’s classic“Guys and Dolls, Jr” comes to
The Area Stage Co. and Theatre Conservatory
Carbonell award winning director John Rodaz is set to direct this exuberant depression-era tale of brassy voiced showgirls, fast talking gangsters and the “Dolls” that love them. Based on the book by Abe Barrows with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, Area Stage is proud to present one of the most acclaimed Broadway musicals to grace the stage.
The play is based on Damon Runyon’s witty, light hearted stories from the 1930s and ’40s and centers around a group of characters who hung around New York’s Time Square. The main story is about the romance between fast-talking, womanizing gambler Sky Masterson and the sweet, wholesome, missionary Sarah Brown.
“Guys and Dolls, Jr” explores romance and humor in the backdrop of the seedy New York gangster underworld. This local revival of this production features two sets of casts of young and talented up-and-comers. Directed by Carbonell winning Director John Rodaz with Musical Director Taylor Powell, Choreography by Danielle Kipnis and Stage Manager, Vanessa Thompson.
