Join us for the closing weekend of Made in the U.S.A. 2013, Saturday & Sunday October 12 & 13 from 2-6 pm both days.
Sixteen artists, all with ties to South Florida, were invited to examine the shifting boundaries between the origins of creativity and ingenuity and how they’re influenced by contemporary American culture creating a visual perspective for viewers to reflect on what it means to be “made” in the U.S.A. a question that resonates in today’s environment.
The messaging and mediums presented in the exhibit are as fluid and varied as the artists. The work presents a challenging gamut of artistic mastery ranging from classic Americana as interpreted by Jane Harris’ oil on canvas ,“638”; Carlos Stincer’s silk screen perfections ,“Made in China”; Ed Berounsky’s aluminum sculpture ”Blue Woman”; MANO’s sculptural hybrid of re-purposed objects, “Put A Lid On It”; and the project launch of “War Mammas” a powerful video installation by Patricia Figueroa Sowers.
