Orchestra Miami is proud to present “Viva Verdi” in honor of the bicentennial of Giuseppe Verdi’s birth (Oct. 10, 1813). In this celebratory concert, Orchestra Miami will present an array of fantastic artists who will perform some of his most beloved arias and choruses, along with several of his more seldomly performed compositions. To start the festivities, Musicologist and Verdi specialist Karen Henson will present a special pre-concert lecture.
Kevin Short, bass and Robynne Redmon, mezzo-soprano, head an all-star line-up of singers. Featured soloists include tenors Lievens Castillo and Matt Maness, and sopranos Nathalie Avila, Marinel Cruz, Susana Díaz and Elizabeth Beers Kataria. The Delray String Quartet makes a special appearance to perform Verdi’s only String Quartet in E minor, violinist Mei Mei Luo will be featured in the Prelude to Act III from I Lombardi, and the “Viva Verdi” Choir performs favorites from the operas. The concert will be accompanied by Orchestra Miami Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi at the piano, supported by Lauralie Pow.
