Urban Strategies, in partnership with Kidz Cancervive, Henry Get’s Moving, Common Threads and a host of other community partners will host the first annual Pediatric Wellness Day. Nationally, September is known as an awareness month for pediatric cancer, childhood obesity and literacy. The synergetic partnership aims to create awareness, nurture children and families, as well as encourage responsibility for youth battling chronicle illnesses such as cancer and obesity. The event will feature an array of wellness activities, entertainment, food, refreshments and much more.
Pediatric Wellness Day was inspired by Brianna Napper, a cancer survivor and her mother Chantel Davis-Walton, who feels compelled to help children and families connect to supportive services similar to what they received. Brianna believes her journey in battling cancer was overcome as a result of being connected to a network of viable resources for her and her family.
Pediatric Wellness Day will be held on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the NFL YET Center (Gwen Cherry Park, 7090 NW 22nd Avenue, Miami, Florida 33147).
