On May 3 and 4, the South Florida Palm Society will hold its annual Spring Show featuring “The World’s Largest Sale of Rare and Exotic Palms.” Each visitor may take home a free palm seedling while quantities last. Be sure to stop at the information table if you would like advice on proper methods for growing a variety of palms. This event takes place at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Rd., Coral Gables. The Garden is home to a world-class collection of palms and cycads, as well as a fascinating butterfly collection. Sale hours are 9:30-4:30 both days. Free admission for Garden members. Admission for non-members: $25 for adults, 18 for age 55+, $12 for children 12-18.
The public is also invited to attend South Florida Palm Society general meetings held in the Corbin Building at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden at 7:00 pm on the first Monday of every even-numbered month. The next general meeting will be held on June 2.
