WHAT: Should Florida Legalize Medical Marijuana?
According to the latest poll, 82% of voters support legalizing medical marijuana. If the language for the ballot initiative gets past the Florida Supreme Court, voters will have their say in November 2014, when they’re asked to approve the amendment to the state Constitution.
Some have criticized the ballot measure as the first step to broad legalization of marijuana. Of the 20 states that have legalized medical marijuana, only California and Massachusetts have requirements similar to Florida’s proposal that allows for physician discretion when it comes to qualifying conditions. Most states have a limited list of conditions.
What is the sentiment regarding medical use of marijuana occurring in other states? How is Florida dealing with this issue? Get ready for some lively debate from our esteemed panel!
