Anthony Abraham Foundation to be the Title Sponsor
of the 7th Annual “A Wonderland in Safe Haven” Gala

A Safe Haven for Newborns, The Gloria M. Silverio Foundation, 501(c)3, proudly announces the Anthony Abraham Foundation to be this year’s Diamond Baby Sponsor for their annual gala to take place on Saturday, October 21st, at the InterContinental Miami hotel. This is the second year that the Anthony Abraham Foundation supports A Safe Haven for Newborns. “We feel honored to have the support and friendship of the Abraham family” said Nick Silverio, founder of The Gloria M. Silverio Foundation.

The Abraham Foundation was established in 1976 by Anthony and Genevieve Abraham with the vision to provide services that would help those in need. “They believed that when it comes to enhancing the quality of life, every person’s efforts matter.” Today, Thomas Abraham, the son of the late Anthony and Genevieve Abraham, continues the 30-year tradition of giving back and offering support for worthy causes — such as Safe Haven’s mission to end infant abandonment.

Sponsors are the backbone of any charity event; and we are fortunate to have numerous corporate friends that when asked for their support said — present. Some of our other corporate friends that have given Safe Haven their unwavering support throughout the years include Accord Productions, Bacardi, Carnival Foundation, Coastal Construction, Florida Fire Chief’s Association, Health Foundation of South Florida, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Miami Heat, Memorial Health Systems, Miller Construction, Saint Louis Catholic Church, Tom & Kathy Shannon Family Foundation and Victoria & Associates to name just a few. These civic- minded organizations believe in giving back to the community; they saw the need to come to the aid of the most defenseless amount us, the newborn, and have given generously of their time and resources.

The Gloria M. Silverio Foundation was created 16 years ago to champion for the most vulnerable among us, the newborn. The Foundation’s sole mission is to end infant abandonment. It assists distressed pregnant women from all walks of life in their moment of crisis with a confidential toll-free 24/7 multilingual helpline. The Foundation offers several programs to assist the expectant mother to make the decision that is right for her and her baby. Some of the resources available to them include counseling, parenting skills, health related issues, adoption and confidentially placing the newborn in a safe haven location. To date, 268 newborns have been given a chance at a life with loving, caring parents that will nurture and guide them as they grow up instead of being left in an unsafe place by their birth mothers in an act of panic increasing the chances of their demise. The Foundation is often the last recourse for the young expectant mothers who are hiding their pregnancy and are scared; and, who themselves feel abandoned by their own family and feel they have no where to turn. The Foundation has helped over 5,000 pregnant women by offering support in their most difficult time.

The program is available in all 67 Florida counties and has been recognized nationally as the prototype for setting the standard for affiliated programs in the states of Kansas and Missouri and the country of Panama. Newborns, seven days or younger, can be left at hospitals and 24/7 staffed Fire/EMS Stations without fear of legal repercussion. These locations are easily identified by the Safe Haven signage displayed at their entrance.

Those wishing to join us in the celebration of the 268 newborns who are reaching for their dreams can do so by going to www.asafehavenfornewborns.com to purchase tickets to the event. The gala will take place on Saturday, October 21st, at 7 PM. Guests will want to get there early to browse through the many exciting silent auction items that will be available during the cocktail reception; dinner and dancing to follow.
