Coral Gables Hospital recognizes and shows appreciation to its nursing staff by participating in the DAISY Foundation’s nursing award celebration. Each quarter, several nurses are nominated by patients, family members and peers for providing extraordinary, compassionate and skillful care.

During the hospital’s most recent awards ceremony, Jonathan Fraginals, nurse manager of the Surgical Stepdown Unit, was selected as the winner.

Fraginals is described by a co-worker as an exemplary individual, who has demonstrated outstanding values and beliefs as a nurse and as a person. He is always willing to help with any task and is dedicated to providing excellent patient care.

Coral Gables Hospital is one of the select hospitals in the nation involved with the DAISY Awards to commemorate the super-human work nurses do for patients and their families every day. The award was created by the DAISY Foundation, which was founded in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by his family members after they experienced firsthand the skills and compassionate care of their son’s nurses.
