David Zisman in running for village vice mayor

David Zisman in running for village vice mayorDavid Zisman is running for the office of vice mayor of the Village of Palmetto Bay in the Nov. 8 election.

A life-long resident of south Miami-Dade County and Palmetto Bay, he has owned and operated his family-run business, Evenings Delight, since the 1970s. A graduate of Miami Palmetto High School, Zisman has two grown children and is married to his wife of 12 years, Myriam.

The following are comments from the candidate:
“If elected as Palmetto Bay vice mayor, what will define my first 100 days in office is: Parks YES, Traffic NO. I want to earn your vote so I may immediately begin addressing three major issues: I want to protect our quality of life by taking on traffic, traffic, and traffic!
While others complain, I am the only candidate with a realistic blueprint to help reduce traffic.

“As your vice mayor, my first priority will be to purchase the 69-acre FPL property at SW 152 Street and Ludlam Avenue to stop developers and the unbearable traffic that another residential development will bring. Instead of homes, we will convert this property into a beautiful ocean-view park, a peaceful green space that all residents will be proud to call their own.

“While other candidates talk about ‘vision,’ I believe in ‘action.’ That is why I have already taken the first step to secure this land. At a Sept. 27 Village Town Hall meeting, I persuaded our Miami-Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava to publicly pledge her support to help Palmetto Bay find the funds to acquire the 69-acre FPL parcel. Thank you, Ms. Levine Cava, for joining me in this important mission. I am committed to addressing our traffic issues, and improving your quality of life, beginning with this property acquisition.

“However, I can’t do it alone. Let’s tackle the traffic problems together. Let’s build and enjoy this new park. Let’s pass this legacy on to our children. On Nov. 8, please vote for David Zisman, vice mayor of Palmetto Bay.”

David Zisman served twice with the Village of Palmetto Bay Charter Review Committee, most recently as the 2015-16 committee chair. He also is a committee chair of the village’s ongoing Downtown Redevelopment Task Force. He was a both Boy Scout in his youth and served as a Scout leader. He is a member of the South Florida Touchdown Club, a nonprofit assisting Miami-Dade County high school students continue their education into college through athletics.
